Federation of Nanganallur (FNWA) is inseparable from the growth of the town. From a small village without proper civic amenites to a municipality and then as a Corporation, the area grown leaps and bounds to a well-developed dwelling area in a span of about 50 years. The role of Federation in its growth is commendable and extraordinary. One of the top educated population in the whole India is living here and their contribution, unity, hard work and trust worthy leadership role through Federation made the areas growth even faster. Its journey started in the late 1970’s as forming small residents’ welfare associations to care about basic amenites, then a number of associations together formed a Federation for wider representations. One Shri. Josier Natarajan as Secretary and Mr. Raj Kumar as President started the Organization as “Federation of Nanganallur” with 10 associations as its associated members. Basic agenda was providing drinking water, proper roads and drainage to the people of Nanganallur. After numerous communications, requests, feasibility studies the Alandur Municipality had brought Palar Water to this area in 1986 and laid pipe lines to individual houses. A Great Sense of satisfaction and relief to the people of Nanganallur and Federation. In 1990 the organisation has become dormant due to various reasons. Then in the 1990’s with the blessings of Shri. S. Rajkumar a body called “South Nanganallur Welfare Association” with Mr. Rama Rao as its Convenor and Mr. Dastagir as its co- convenor but restricting to South of Nanganallur only. Later many newly formed associations from different area willing to join, the name was changed to” United Forum of Nanganallur Welfare Associations” with Mr. P. D. Deenadayalan as its President and Mr. V. Rama Rao as its General Secretary in year 2000. During that period Mr. R. S. Bharathy was Chairman of Alandur Municipality and Under Ground Drainage Scheme was launched with the cooperation of all associations, under PPP (people) participation project) & for water supply a Rs 67 crore JNNRUM scheme completed the project in a record time. All houses are provided drainage connection and water dupply by year 2006. In 2007 Mr. Raghavan took over as General Secretary and Mr. Rajagopal as President. In 2016, Mr. S. Narayanan was General Secretary and Mr. Rajagopal was president. The name of the Forum was once again changed to “Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations”. After this term in year 2022 Mr. V. V. Kumaravelu was elected as General Secretary and Mr. S. Rajagopal continued as President. Presently in the year 2024, Mr. S. Chandra Bose was elected as President and Mr. Kumaravelu continued as GS.
